An unnatural death in Singapore River...

It's quite difficult to imagine that the man was on his own during that 'incident'. So what had actually happened? Was he indeed naturally--or to be precise, accidentally--falling to the river due to say, intoxication? Or was there other reasons altogether? Suicide? Somebody pushed him? Somebody accidentally pushed him? And so on and so forth...

The body of an Indian man in his early 40s was pulled out of the Singapore River on Tuesday morning at about 2.19am by personnel from the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

Both the SCDF and the police received calls at about 12.45am alerting them to someone falling into the river at Tew Chew Street in Clarke Quay, near the Swissotel Merchant Court Hotel.

Upon arrival at the scene, the SCDF commenced search and rescue operations at the location where the man was last seen.

The body of the victim was found about 4 metres away from the riverbank, at a depth of 5 metres.

The man, who was clad in a black long sleeved shirt and black jeans, is believed to be a foreigner.

He was pronounced dead by SCDF paramedics at 2.42am.

Police have classified the case as an unnatural death and are investigating.

From Straits Times, "Man's body found in river".
