New library@orchard!

Remember this post, "So Long, and Thanks for All the Books" about library@orchard prior it's closed? We may yet see the new library@orchard revealed soon sometime in 2014!

The library@orchard will be getting a new home in the first quarter of 2014.

It will be located on the third and fourth levels of the new Specialist Shopping Centre, which will be situated between the Orchard Central and 313@Somerset shopping malls.

The proposed area of the library is 1,700 square metres.

Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts Yaacob Ibrahim announced this during a visit to the Clementi library on Saturday.

He said that there was a demand for a library in Orchard, and it was good place for people to go after work.

Dr Yaacob said while there were suggestions for a second library in the Orchard area at the *scape Youth Park, he felt one library was enough.

The new library will serve the Orchard Road shopping belt, as well as the Dhoby Ghaut and City Hall areas.
